Here we go once again. This month, the famous Ms Marmite Lover finally enters the fray, Lizzie Mabbot dethrones Chris Pople to go top and the highest climber is The Graphic Foodie to number 13, up by 12. Congratulations to all. Isn’t it more exciting watching the list change leaders now that the all powerful WOM (it is still all powerful, and no list is going to change that right?) has vacated the top spot
…Tim, the editor, told me the Faller figurines were going to be 9mm high. I thought to myself that my macro lens was only 60mm and not really fast enough at f2.8. Thank god for high
Just a quick note regarding the recent changes to the site. It is a little unfortunate that there are people out there who want to steal content, rather than just asking nicely first, but oh well. On the bright side, I guess my content must be worth something if people feel compelled to steal it. So in light of this, I’ve made a few changes to my site to protect against content theft and do apologise to my readership if it has affected your experience so far: Copyright Pro I have disabled right-clicking on my site, you can cut and paste text, but not photographs. Basically, this is in place so that when someone wants to use my work that they let me know about it first, before blindly cutting it out which constitutes as stealing, and I frown upon that. Image watermarks I don’t actually like watermarking images because I feel it takes away from the immersion and had resisted watermarking for nearly as long as I have been blogging, but alas, I have given in. When restaurants are lifting my images, it’s getting abit silly. RSS feeds and Emails I have been trying to find a way around this, I know alot of you would like the full rss email reinstated, and I have to admit it is convenient having entire blog posts delivered to your inbox via
….And we take another sneak peek at this month’s movers and shakers (as according to the good people of Wikio) in the world of virtual food media. Right at the top, Chris has set up camp at the summit…. and Jeanne’s Cook Sister! arrives all guns blazing as a new entry to this list at a whopping 5th place! Su-Lin at Tamarind and Thyme is the biggest mover jumping 28 places to 11th. The full update to the rankings will be published on Saturday

And here we are, the first sneak preview into the Wikio UK gastronomy blogs rankings list in 2010. I’ll be receiving these every month from now on as the chaps over at Wikio have installed me as their latest gastronomy blogs ‘expert’… it just basically means I get to publish these sneak lists or hand over to someone who’d like to host them. The rankings are updated monthly and are compiled based on the number and weight of the incoming links from other blogs, taking into account, links found in the RSS feed, while blogrolls links are not accounted for. Also the weight of any given link increases according to how recently it was published. Alright so without further ado
Yup, I was there and it was brilliant. The first UK based food blogger connect conference saw 70 food lovin’ guests descend upon Levant restaurant right here in London, all of whom have a vested interest in the phenomenon that is food blogging. Most already have their own blogs, some were interested in starting up and many came from all over the world, some as far away as India, it truly transcended all kinds of boundaries and I was so glad I was there. So what are you waiting for? Let’s all be witnesses
And LondonEater is officially one year old today. My first post seems so long ago and since, I have written a further 230 posts, approved 1.8k comments and received 200k page views. It is both rewarding and daunting looking back at what a bloody long journey it has been. Highlights, low blows, great and appalingly awful eats, barrels upon barrels of laughs, it’s a rollercoaster and most things were delicious. Today, I’m happy to see LondonEater continuing to attract new readership. A special shout out goes out particularly to my super loyal RSS/Newsletter subscribers who are sharing this little gastro adventure with me every step of the way. We’re a small bunch, but we’re a hungry one. I continue to write because you keep coming back for more and I can only hope that my opinion has been helpful in your endeavour towards satisfying culinary curiosities. Oh, and I just want to say thank you for reading too. Yes, there’s more hot air, keep reading
Arbutus Official Site 63 Frith Street W1D 3JW 020 7734 4545 Set Lunch £16 , Ala Carte £ 40 (3 courses) I am a feeble little soul afraid to be shamed in public when discovered that what I preach is but a false pretension. Woe is me. I am always slightly nervous whenever I meet up with peeps and they send me a message like this: “Friday sounds great – I’d imagine you’d be better than me at picking a place to eat” Gulp. At that moment in time, my mind goes into abit of a freeze and I have to take my own advice and just go with something I would recommend on London Eater. Do I feel like a fraud? Oh yes. Am I hungry? Yes, too. I feel like screaming to the chef ‘gawd you better be cooking up a storm!’ ….ok deep breathe, ah – talk about being a drama queen eh ( but a soppy one, Lizzie ) . I’ve always loved the idea of Mr Demetre’s vision of budget fine dining. Both his establishments use cheaper ingredients – but the cooking is imaginative and the food tastes great. Cheap considering the michelin star. Recession beating, good food and perhaps Soho’s shining culinary star. Tim and Candice join me for this one
It has been a while since I last wrote about how my little blog was really doing in the wide, wide internet. I have since switched over to sitemeter and slowly overhauled the design and structure of the blog. As a consequence, my sitemeter stats only start from about mid October … I’m a number cruncher you see and I love bar graphs, Google analytics doesnt offer them. So how are we doing so far
