[...] Wonderful things are happening on pho mile in Dalston Kingsland, in fact, most Vietnamese restaurants are so good, that little separates them. Recently, I have been visiting Viet Grill, specifically for their special £5 one plate lunch offers, the noodles are quite abit soggy, but the soup stock is vibrant and fantastic. Deserves your attention too, if you are in the area. Read more. [...]

I think Viet Grill is at the finer end of dining on the Pho mile (although that is very much a relative thing). The dishes here look great, although I'm not sure about the coconut in the Pho, it;s something I've never come across, but I can see how it might work. Seems a shame to sacrifice the clarity (of flavour and appearance) of a simple broth though.

The beef looks fantastic. My first taste of beef cooked Vietnamese style was a real revelation for this steak lover. The small cube or slices, shaking and spicy were fantastic and it's one thing i've yet to taste badly done in a Vietnamese restaurant. Although I've not come across one to rival the one i had in Hanoi...
