[...] You would have to visit on a weekend, and on lunch hour rather than for dinner. Personally, dim sum has always been Sunday breakfast for me and I think Yum Cha exudes just that kind of vibe. The food is excellent and might actually be better than Pearl Liang. Their egg tarts in particular are great, and they also serve very capable xiao long baos. The crystal dumplings – Prawn and scallop – were seeped in seafood flavours and most of the benchmark dishes including the har gau and siu mai kept me happy. Read more.
Had great dim sum there - better than most Chinatown establishments. In fact, better dim sum than I've tasted this side of Singapore...

Hi - found your blog through the Time Out feature. Love it - it's so slick and the photography is obviously top-notch. I just started my own blog too (www.thirtyoneseventyfive.com), which roots out London's best eats for £31.75 or less (the reason for the figure is on the site). Any feedback or ideas would be much appreciated. I'm looking for London's best and worst Italians for starters. Oh, and I might email you to ask about using / linking to some of your pictures if that's OK! Thanks, Tim

Ick. No Dim Sum for me, thanks. Last weekend when I was in London I went with Margot from Coffee & Vanilla to China Town and we both tried Dim Sum for the first time. The springrolls were oozing out oil. The yam puffs barely had any filling and didn't taste very good. And leaving the best for last those slimy steamed things in the first photo I had one bite of and it took every bit of self-control in me not to puke on the table while Margot stared at me wide-eyed. It's lovely being pregnant! I've been scarred by this experience and am only willing to try Dim Sum one last time in maybe 5 years when the vivid memories have subsided... Ack! :-s

poor me ... I can only live through your photos and taste buds. yum yum ...dim sum ....mmmm... wish they have something real here even in Paris (quite pathetic). Gosh...I just had my delicious kebab lunch and I'm drooling over your dim sum description. It's ridiculous! What to do...I'm a true blue S'porean in that sense. LOL!

I visited in November but didn't have an extensive range of dishes, though what I tasted was nice. As this is closer to me (up in the boonies of NW London) it's good to know the rest of their menu holds up too.
