Hi Kang

We rried Ffiona’s last night and thought it was great. We had asparagus, salad with fig, mint and feta cheese and fishcakes. A very different style to the traditional ‘English’ menu but very good.

Thought your review of the Renaissance St Pancras was just right. At that kind of price (not expensive but hardly cheap) a restaurant needs to give you something memorable, not just a properly cooked meal.

Ffiona’s is a favourite of ours and we go regularly. We went last Sunday and a great roast beef lunch.
Nice to see such great pictures.

There is something very special about small neighbourhood restaurants. We really need to cherish them.

The food sounds fabulous too. I don’t like bread & butter pudding, but your description had me wanting to reach into the screen to grab a spoonful.

London Chow – Yes I totally agree with you. My grandpa had a restaurant in his heyday, and it was very much a family labour of love, so I totally feel for smaller restaurants. Definitely alot of passion, passion and more passion.

Shayma – Yes I googled it and it says the same thing, I will have to give butterfish sashimi a try, sounds like something I would really enjoy. Yes, perhaps when grilled the texture changes.

i just love neighbourhood restaurants, and a place where they serve bread and butter pud’ straight out of the oven- i am there. ps i have tried butterfish sashimi which is phenomenal, the texture must change when it’s cooked (you likened it to swordfish) bec it literally is like butter in your mouth when raw.

There’s something about restaurants (or eateries for that matter) with the personal touch. Many are into food business as a means of living while a handful are in it with a passion. I believe the customers will be able to tell the difference.
