Gourmet Chick - I didn't have time to taste any of the food as I was too busy trying to shoot the photo essay, I would like to go back to try the restaurant on a separate occasion though :)

Awesome! The higher-ups at the restaurant must be commended for allowing you to photograph their kitchen during the busiest time. I'd have a hard time resisting the urge to taste the food and quiz the cooks.

What fun. Great feature. This is my favourite post you've ever done. I guess it helps that I am a big fan of Gazette - albeit we normally go to their Balham restaurant.

This is a great idea of yours lived out. It's an important reminder of the magic and mayhem underwriting the sheer hard work that we diners pay to forget! Meanwhile the food looks delicious...

Phew! I can imagine how hot and hectic it must have been in there, for the chefs and for you! A great way to spend an evening though and I look forward to Part 2...

I absolutely love Gazette, I first went to the Battersea site about 3 years ago, having been so impressed by their wine list! It was then that I tasted some of the best French brasserie food I've had outside (and probably inside) France. I persuaded a load of friends to have a long, lazy Saturday lunch there some time later. I had eggs, bacon, beans and fried bread as a starter (I hadn't eaten all week in preparation...) served in a little Le Creuset dish, followed by their amazing cote de boeuf. We stayed for hours, and Chef Pascal came out with his homemade liquors, giving us all a little digestif on the house!
Since, I have also been to the Balham restaurant, which did not fail to impress either!
I cannot recommend these restaurants more for those long, lazy, luscious lunches. Thank you so much for showing us how it all happens behind the scenes!
