Odo - Glad to be able to help. I'm assuming you are referring to the Brasserie restaurant which is in the same Hotel Malmaison? To my knowledge, they share the same kitchen, and the Butcher's Block is actually located in the same restaurant space (in fact, its just a private room within the restaurant). The block however does have its own special menu and one of the specialties is this rib of beef. I know that the restaurant menu is different, but I see no reason why they cannot serve you the butcher's block menu outside.

Of course, don't take my word for it, give them a call and see what they can do for you.

Hope this helps.

[...] It’s been a while since I last did a proper edition of eat&read and I think I may just change it to a fortnightly one instead. Believe it or not, a eat&read post takes a really long time to produce. All the linking up, the rounding up, alot of ideas to organise and compose. I’m finally back from holiday and back to my tuesday/friday review schedule once again. If you havent read them yet, I posted a review of the new Italian crowd favourite Bocca di Lupo and also published a write-up of my visit to the Butcher’s block. [...]

Howard - oh yes it does, i guess it's completely psychological - but still meat on a block. Yummy.

Gourmet Chick - thank you so much :)

Helen - hehehehe, funny story actually a couple of days after this visit, I discovered that I actually ripped the threads that held the button to my jeans together. Dunno if it's because of the food here - but stretchy trousers is a def requirement!

Yvonne - Happy advanced birthday!! I'm 26 this year too and you should do it at the block of course :) ... this or Cambio de Tercio.

Lizzie - I know you would have, I am still curious as how those hollow legs work when you are in full eating glory :D

A girl has to eat - Not sure if I replied your previous email yet - but a boy has to eat will write for you soon, and yes do visit :D

Jessie - :D I'm sure you would have loved it here!

Marc - Oh man, I had so much trouble doing it on my visit - and I regret not exercising my takeway box option :D

Jo - definitely! wine flights and sampling is the way forward, no exceptions!

As delicious as that looks I'm not sure I could scarf that down with only one other person. I guess that's what take-away boxes are for.
