I may have misled you a bit there on the price, as that did include a bottle of Pol Roger and a couple of bottles of wine split between the four of us. So not all the bill was food. I think from memory the food part was about £80 a head.

No Expert - Oh dear that sounds horrendous, £175 is a head turning number and I'm sorry to hear that the meal was, well, overpriced. I think any meal at that price is likely to be overpriced, nothing should ever be so expensive, and for a two star restaurant, I do agree that if they are to charge so much money - and especially on a saturday - they should not have off days, but unfortunately, restaurants do have off days, and sometimes expectations invariably leads to dissapointment.

On my visit, it was a set lunch for £25, and for £25 it was fantastic. If it were £175, well...

Has any one been to Hibiscus on a Saturday night when they only do the tasting menus?.

I went with 3 foodie friends and the general consensus based on our very disappointing experience was that Hibiscus was overhyped, overpriced boring food, and that the best dish in a £175 a head menu was the cheese course!. We all swore we would never go back, hence my question, could it be that Saturday is not representative.?

My view though is that a 2 star Michelin should not have off days.

Never too late to tell you that I went there for lunch today and the pollock was amazing (and I didn't find it too salty). Had a starter of pork pie ravioli on a bed of caramelised onions and apple celery salad and that stole the show. It was superb. a great restaurant and I will definitely return. Highly value for money. :)

As for the recent comments regarding the 'comped' meals, I'd say SOD it and keep up the great work you're doing! A total fan...
