I've had alot more of Byron since I last wrote that, and I must say they are pretty good, if I revised the burger list today, byron would move up, gbk down, but I think hache still pips it.... i still need to try Cheeky Petes though.

Loving Annie - lol, glad you liked this list, but apparently the ‘best’ is cheeky petes, i’ve havent tried it yet… but will do soon

Beth - lol ..ok , ok the ‘in&out’ sounds cool and I’ll give it a go when I do round 2 of this burger shoot-out LD

Lizzie - yea, you’re actually not alone as there seems to be a growing contingent of disgruntled gbk customers! I do agree with the overfilling, which is why i put that down to the poor buns.

Yes, hache does do great stuff, not doubting that at all but maybe it’s just me but the oversizing sold it for me :S there’s still cheeky petes to try as i was saying to annie, i need to try that - but the burger debate must continue !! :P

I'd have to disagree with you; I found GBK to be quite dire. I suppose it all depends on which branch you go to though. I went to the Soho branch and had to queue for 10 minutes to get a table, then as soon as we sat down we were then told we had to queue to place our orders - which took an age. In the end we queued for a total of about 25 minutes. It made for a shambolic atmosphere. I also found their burgers to be over-filled, resulting in it not holding well together.

Hache, on the other hand... Best burgers ever. Great inside too, I found the atmosphere to be quite intimate but also lively.

Great to know! I too think that gourmet burger is the best :) You will have to shoot me though... I love the bunless burger, if you've ever been to LA and had in and out burger, they do a version of it, but covered with lettuce. It's delish! Great post :)

I liked your criteria, and all of the detail that you went into. You're making my mouth water for a GBK burger with tomato relish, even if the bun wasn't so great !
