Rewarding.

I wanted to come up with a big headline, but thinking about it, there was really only one emotion. Getting awards from fellow food bloggers is just rewarding. I must say, it’s really quite uplifting knowing that there are people out there who read my posts and also enjoy reading them. I am (almost) lost for words. What’s even more awe-inspiring is that I not only received my first award.. but I got my first four in the space of two days.

My first one, the Premio Arte Pico

The first one is always so special. I received the Premio Arte Pico from Jo over at the adventures of kitchen girl . This award has an interesting background, in that it originated from a blogger who makes all kinds of interesting looking dolls from knit over at Arte y pico . The blog is written in spanish so I sincerely hope nothing was lost in translation when I described her stuff.

Accepting this award comes with the following rules:

  1. Pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award, creativity, design, interesting material, and also contributes to the blogger community, no matter of language.
  2. Advertise name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
  3. Each award-winner, has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
  4. Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
  5. Share these rules.

I like this part, this award is not really about me, but it’s more about the great foodbloggers who have inspired me, with that I pass this award along to…

  1. Jessie at the hungry mouse I think I first bumped into her at foodbuzz, she’s an absolutely lovely person and I’m a fan of her fascinating recipes, in particular her signature photo essay style of walking through a recipe.
  2. Reeni at cinnamon spice & everything nice runs an excellent blog with lots of yummy recipes which make me salivate while reading her posts. I mean, wouldn’t you if you were reading about pesto chicken & tomato pizza?
  3. Gail at the Pink Peppercorn is a really nice food blog featuring cool recipes such as this one which is a miso garlic spaghetti squash. She’s got some really great food pictures and they really, really caught my eye.
  4. Danny at Over the Hill and on a Roll is a really delicious blog with a super clean design, tight writing, great recipes such as this porterhouse with grilled Peaches and Zucchini and mouth watering pictures.
  5. April at the hungry engineer writes really well and she always manages a story to go with the main theme of the post, which I appreciate. Her canning project is still so fresh in my mind even though, go have a read here.

Jo, this one is indeed special as it is my first.. that you so much for it!

The fabulous food blogger award

Jessie who runs the wonderful hungry mouse blog gave me this one today. I have to echo her words in her post , there really is a big community of super nice people in the food blogging world. Jessie is surely one of them :D. She has some really interesting recipes and memorable as well, because she captures the entire creation process of a recipe in pictures. Everytime I read one of her post, I always wish I could be right there in the kitchen watching her work her magic.

I particular enjoy this post which is baked chocolate french toast served with fresh cream , and then she goes and thoroughly blows my mind with this post , in which i expected her to review an interesting bottle of maple flavoured whisky….but instead she makes her own ! That is just plain cool.

The double E is for Excellent

This came as a delightful surprise. I received this award twice! The one on the left was given to me by April over at the hungry engineer and the one on the right was given to me by Reeni who runs cinnamon spice & everything nice. April, Reeni thank you so much! As I said earlier, it really does mean so much when fellow foodbloggers recognise my stuff, it’s just such so inspiring!

The rules of receiving the award is as follows:

Please find 5 blogs, of any kind that you love to read. Write a post about the blogs you picked, linking back to them. Make sure you let them know you gave them an award.

There are so many excellent blogs out there whom I think thoroughly deserve this award, here’s five:

  1. The Life and Loves of Grumpy’s Honeybunch is maintained by HoneyB and her blog is another one of those which I follow closely. She’s got alot of heartwarming recipes like her latest russian mushroom and potato soup.
  2. Emily at Chicago Dining Examiner is one great food writer. I love her writing, it’s imaginative, thoughtful and characterful. She’s just so inspirational to me … and now I know, Chicago is a real a food haven.
  3. Bentoism packages all her lunches & recipes into nice bento boxes and writes about it. It’s quirky and innovative and a very easy digestible blog.
  4. Eat, show tell are maintained by a group of lovely friends down under in Sydney. I have fond memories of this city and absolutely love the fact that produce is so fresh, in particular the seafood. The blog design is super clean and I’m so envious of it, everything just flows from the image borders to the magazine style arrangement.
  5. Christie at Fig & Cherry is yet another foodblog with great snaps and a eye-popping design. All her recipes are just so refreshingly different and really bring a colour to the food blogging community. I love it!

Here is the next five which I am passing this award along to:

  1. Banu at Be Foodie is one of the loveliest people I have ever met. She has this glow in her words which tends to highlight her bubbliness and somehow always lifts my mood whenever I read her blog. She writes about the stuff she whips up in her kitchen and always manages a personal story to go with her stuff. My hat off to you Banu.
  2. Helen at World Foodie Guide is an inspiration. She’s eaten all over the globe from London to Hong Kong and her blog pioneers her concept of traveleating. Its cool, its vibrant, its the quintessential foodblog.
  3. Heidi at Savory TV is a video food blog featuring vids from some top chefs and their mission is to demystify cooking gourmet food and show people that everybody can do it at home too.
  4. Kian Lam at the Red cook runs a unique blog about chinese food. This is close to my heart as its part of my heritage and I appreciate Kian’s efforts in telling the community just how varied and downright delicious chinese food can be.
  5. Charmaine at tasty treats! Finally, last but certainly not least, I’m passing this on to Charmaine. All thoughout my six years in London, I’ve depended on Time out to provide me with some great recommendations to dine in the city, in a way, Timeout has taught me how great a place London can be for eating.

This has been fun, hope you guys enjoy the awards and thanks again Jo, Jessie, Renni and April; you guys are awesome, keep the great posts coming and have a great end to the week.
